Now the day is over

It's work, but it's a different kind of work, right?

It doesn't work anyway. Bishops have a way of finding you.

The bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, bells, bells

Those are the people who find themselves teaching early morning Seminary!

There's a certain ring to it

Today's lesson: when you purchase your CTR ring, always go with the brand name. With the knockoff brands you never know what you're going to get!

We're not dealing in absolutes

We just added another Eagle to our nest — my young padawan just earned his award, after several years of hard work.

On a totally unrelated note, I wonder how many Scouts would pass their boards of review if they had to prove the clean part by showing a picture of their bedrooms?

Be prepared and all that

That explains why so many young men have messy rooms!

Thanks once again to my padawan for the inspiration for this one.

Not room enough to receive it

Thanks to our missionaries for the inspiration on this one.

A day late, a dollar short

This probably should have run yesterday, but my calendar was off. At least I got my taxes in on time!

Next steps

The purpose of English classes was to meet people, build relationships, and find individuals to teach. We met a lot of people — a lot of interesting people!

Oh, no!

Remember what I said yesterday about this being based on a true story? Yes, it is.

Practically all missionaries have stories that they didn't report to the high council, nor did they use them in any sacrament meeting talk or fireside. But they all have them!

The loss of a letter

This story is based on an actual event. It didn't happen to me, but it did happen to some sister missionaries that I know.

Sketchbook: Signs

I've been on the road this past week (hence the late posting). In my travels I came across a sign advertising free stuff at the casino. A little farther down the road there was another sign, advertising for a church. It made me wonder how effective it would be if the church used a similar sales pitch to the one used by the gambling joint...

Truth in advertising

One of the first rules of advertising is that you need to know your audience.

Actually, this sort of sign would have worked in my mission. Enough people knew enough English that they'd be brought in by this sign.

Teaching to teach

Teaching English kept us busy — and we even got a few investigators out of it!

Sketchbook: Conference recap

What an amazing conference! There were so many great talks and inspiring messages, and the music was beautiful as always!

I've posted all my notes from General Conference — including the Women's Session. Now for your convenience, I've compiled them into one handy, dandy PDF that you can download (via Dropbox). Please feel free to use them or share them. Most importantly, go back and revisit the messages themselves. You'll be glad you did!

Power up!

It's General Conference time! Be sure to participate — there are plenty of opportunities to watch!

Be sure to come back and see my sketch notes from conference. I'll have them posted after the sessions.
