Out in the cold
This may be more of a public service announcement than a cartoon gag. Our local missionaries had a spate of bad luck with dinner appointments recently. There were about two weeks straight when they didn't have dinner appointments — either nobody signed up, or those who did sign up had to cancel. They told us that they were getting awfully of tired of warming up pizza rolls!
If you have a chance, feed the missionaries. You'll be blessed if you do!

Sketchbook: We believe in what?
The question was asked in our stake conference, "Why do so many of us feel so guilty?"
Missionary work.
Temple attendance.
Family history.
Mother's Day.
And so much more!
The short answer was that we don't need to feel guilty. What should we do? Pray for guidance, follow the promptings of the spirit. All we need to do is to do our best, and try to make the world a little better each day. If we do that, we can feel good about ourselves — and that's OK.

Bonus! Going social
So, Sis. Kerry Jo has started an Instagram account. If you're on Instagram, give her a follow and keep up on her missionary activities!
And by the way, she's also on Pinterest, and that includes a lot more than her missionary stories. I guess she's trying to follow Elder Bednar's admonition to share the gospel on social media.

There's that song again
One of perks of traveling — especially as a missionary — is the connection you feel with the people. It's one way that Heavenly Father lets us know that we are all his children, wherever we may be.
I always get a little choked up when I hear the Korean national anthem. My mom, who was Canadian, would bawl like a baby whenever she heard "O, Canada'!

That's one small bite for a person...
Kimchi is the most famous dish of Korea, followed by bulgogi (Korean barbecue) and boshintang (dog soup). I've had two of the three, and a close encounter with the third.*
Kimchi is one of those foods that grows on you. Now it's one of my favorite Korean foods, and our local Korean restaurant makes a good kimchi. Stop by and enjoy some when you're in the neighborhood!
And as long as you're visiting, stop by at Sis. Kerry Jo's site, too. She still has a few stories to tell!
*It involved a shortcut through the marketplace. We never took it again!

Mystery meals
As time went on, I learned to enjoy the food — but I had a rough start!

The cuisine of the Morning Calm
With the PyeongChang Winter Olympics starting tomorrow, the eyes of the world turn once again to Korea. And when my thoughts turn to Korea, I naturally go to my own experiences as a missionary there, and — of course — to Sis. Kerry Jo.
As a missionary, one thing that stays with you no matter where you serve are the tastes and the smells of your area.
