I thought I'd run a few of my old Halloween favorites today. Enjoy, and let's be safe out there!

 

It sends a shiver

This was a Sketchbook a while back, but I liked it to much to allow it to stay there. Besides that, it has an important safety message — and we're all about safety here!

Sorry about the wordiness of this one. Once I got going, I couldn’t stop!
 

It’s the mileage, not the years

I get that feeling. I certainly can’t stay up the way I used to!

You know that old myth that we only use 10% of our brains? What happens if we turn that 10% over to the bishop?

Side note: Sometimes I'm glad cartoons don't come in scratch 'n' sniff!

Sketchbook: Somebody's watching you

On further reflection, I should have put the lifeguard chair next to the River Styx.
 

I already gave at the office

It took guts to ask, but it may be a little late to inquire.
 

The dinner appointment

This gives "having the missionaries for dinner" another level of meaning!

I wanted to keep this just a little subtle, not too graphic. Eww!
 

While I pondered weak and weary

Some scholars say that Edgar Allan Poe's poem The Raven is a cautionary tale about grief over the loss of a loved one. Perhaps poor Elder Poe just received a Dear John.

Sketchbook: Brat

You may have heard of Charli XCX’s album “Brat” that gave way to Brat Summer, described as “accepting your imperfections and embracing the chaos.” 

Brat green* became the color of the season — and I noticed that it was awfully similar to Disney’s evil green. And that’s what brought us here. 

And that over-long explanation is one of the many reasons that this one stayed in the sketchbook. 
 

*The gag was way less effective without the color, and I just kept going.

No unhallowed hand

It took me a long time before I was brave enough to try street food. But when I did, I wished that I had been braver sooner. I missed out on some good stuff!

Pure and delightsome

There comes a certain point that no matter what you do, the white shirt just doesn't look white any more. I think the Spirit flowing out from the missionary has an effect on the fabric. 
 

Taking notes and kicking names

In some ways it's a lot easier to mark up the electronic scriptures in the Library app. Still, there's nothing like a good, marked-up copy of the scriptures. 

More holiness give me

Have you ever noticed that when you ask a missionary how long she or he has been out, the answer is usually something like, "About a year" (Unless they're fresh from the MTC).

Missionaries like to celebrate their six-month, one year and year-and-a-half anniversaries. Each is a major milestone. With those milestones come tell tale signs of how long they've been out.

Over the next few days. we'll be looking at some of those signs that show a missionary has been out "about a year." Stay tuned!

Due to technical difficulties, I missed a good portion of Sis. Freeman's talk. What I heard was great! What was your favorite talk?

Advance scheduling

With a family of five boys, we had a lot of people trying to work out how soon each of the siblings would leave!

Brush up the résumé

When members of the Church hear the word qualify, we often think of D&C 4: “And faith, hope, charity and love, with an eye single to the glory of God, qualify him for the work.”

Like many things, it’s a lot easier to read the words than to put them in to practice.
 

Conference prep

And that's not counting the World Report and all the other fill material between sessions!
