One of my first days in the mission field I was assigned to make pancakes for breakfast. Unfortunately, my language skills were limited. I couldn't tell which was the powdered vanilla and which was the corn starch.
:). My brother-in-law reports that he was rather popular among his fellow missionaries because he was about the only one who could cook (he is a good cook, actually).

Powdered vanilla? I'd never heard of that before.
