Monday Sketchbook: The price of fame

Crickets are the bad boys of Mormon history, so much so that they earned their own scientific classification. And once those bad boys became famous, they hit the talk show circuit (above), picked up a couple of product endorsements (example one - example two), even a backup band, and soon they began to deny their roots.

It's a sad tale of destruction, one we hope doesn't get repeated any time soon.

  1. I've never understood why they're called Mormon crickets. Shouldn't they be anti-Mormon crickets? If anyone is Mormon, it's the seagulls.

Thanks for the link to my long-ago gag.
