Vitamins? Check!

There are a TON of rumors floating around about what could possibly be  announced at this conference. I won't even begin to speculate!

Except for one thing. If you notice, Pres. Nelson asked the youth to fast from social media for a week. He asked the Relief Society to fast from social media for ten days. What's he going to ask the priesthood to do?

The express lane

In our ward, this was the bishop's kid. Isn't that the way it usually works?

Every cloud has a lining of some sort

Now that's what I call an object lesson!

Carrot power

Personally, I like carrots. The word "carroty" just has a certain ring to it that something like "green beansy" does not.

A starred review

Which is probably why missionaries have limited access to computers. I can only imagine what kinds of ratings they'd give to the zone leaders!

Game of doors

I remember one section in the city of Pohang that was rows and rows and rows of huge apartment buildings. They all looked similar and it would have been easy to get lost if we didn't pay attention to where we were. We could easily have spent a week going the whole day door to door. That would have been binge tracting!

It's hard work

One of my favorite parts of First Nephi is after Lehi has his vision, what does he do? He goes back to bed.

Sketchbook: Selection Sunday

I hope your team made it in to the Big Dance. My boys will be staying home this year.

Specially trained

I found that I could be fairly fluent talking with people (even girls) as long as we stayed in the arena of gospel topics. Wander too far from that, however, and it's a whole new world — and a completely different set of vocabulary words!

It's bigger than it looks!

Maybe it's just me, but when we talked about the shield of faith in Sunday school, rather than the standard battle shield, I visualized the force field that protected the USS Enterprise in Star Trek.

Sketchbook: As the World Turns

...and your phone, and your music, and your sense of fashion. A lot can happen in two years!

Rock of ages

I remember as a freshman in high school thinking that the upper classmen were so old. Now as I look back at my old yearbooks, I wonder how I could have thought any of them looked old. Even the faculty members are starting to look young!

Make that to go, please!

Sometimes when you have a dinner appointment scheduled, you need to be ready with a Plan B.

Lost in the translation

Where is the complaint department in the Celestial Kingdom? It's just down a bit from the lost and found, and right across from the Judgment Bar & Grill.

Where'd you get those eyes?

There's a feature on FamilySearch.org that uses facial recognition software to help you determine which of your ancestors you most closely resemble. It's kind of fun to see who it pulls up. I spent a couple of hours playing with various photos and learning about my different ancestors.

Sketchbook: Alms, both loud and long

This came out of my notes from the "Come, Follow Me" studies this past week. I kind of like the idea of staying outside the bishop's office and blasting a trumpet every time someone hands him a tithing envelope!

The fam, the myth, the legend

True story. In two generations, one of my lines goes from being knights and ladies, kings and queens, to being Norse gods — and they use mythology as a reference.

And, yes, I am descended from Thor. Loki was adopted.
