Keeping dad occupied and out of the way

I've seen two solutions that worked well to prevent the dads from taking over the pinewood derby. In one pack they handed out cars at pack meeting, gave the kids half an hour to build the cars, and then raced them afterward. In another, the elders quorum held their own races the week after the Cubs.

This month is Scouting Month, the anniversary of the founding of the Boy Scouts of America. Thank you, Lord Baden-Powell!

Making it a delight

I've been pondering this for a long time, and I got a strong confirmation last night. I'm going to start taking Sundays off from my cartoons,. It's a decision that may seem mostly symbolic, yet it's an attempt to better keep the Sabbath Day holy.

I still plan on posting the rest of the week, so don't panic (yeah, right!). We'll see how it plays out.

We made a Saturday Chores mixtape that was full of energetic, upbeat songs to try to get the kids going in the morning. Now it's a mixtape of songs that the kids hate. Go figure!
