It's in the details

It's like when people slow down on the freeway when they see a policeman. Sometimes you can't be too careful!

Choices

We're almost done with the Disney cartoons. Then we work on the publication. It's been a fun trip so far!

Polar opposites

This guy's lucky. I went from a cold blizzard in Provo to Siberian winds in Korea. I didn't warm up until April.

Editor's note: This is a remake and an update of a cartoon that ran decades ago in the New Era. Yeah, it's old.

Sketchbook: Fresh as daisies

Still, they've got a car. Put the windows down, get a little air freshener, spend P-day cleaning and before long that used Fritos smell will vanish in the wind!

A mealtime miracle

It seems to me that, for missionaries, no matter how full they may claim to be after dinner, there's always room for more. Especially if it's dessert!

There's always that one cousin

Happy Thanksgiving to those of you in the U.S. For those who live elsewhere, happy Thursday! Hope it's the best one ever!

Thanks to you for checking on my cartoons. I appreciate you more than you know.

Be not afraid

I wonder how Mr. Shakespeare felt about gravy? I think he'd say that it's great!

It comes in dribbles

There are people who don't like gravy and people who love gravy. There's not much in between. But when the gravy is lumpy, that's another story entirely!

Sketchbook: Reader's choice

A few of the Shakespeare quotes got a little, um, iffy.

Just a note for those who may wonder: "Glistens" is often rendered as "Glitters" in some versions. The quote is from The Merchant of Venice.

"What's done..." is from Macbeth

Both plays are something you can sink your teeth into.

How much turkey should I get?

The average price of Thanksgiving dinner in the United States has gone down this year, from $64.05 in 2022 to $61.17 this year —largely due to a decline in the price of turkey.

The more you know.

The Moor the Merrier

With Thanksgiving fast approaching, can our troupe of Shakespearian turkeys be far behind?

Othello is one of my favorite Shakespeare plays. Not only did we study it in Miss Woodward's AP English class, Othello introduced me to Monty Python.

Late one night, I stumbled across an FM radio station broadcasting Flying Circus. I didn't know at the time what I was listening to, but I still recall some great lines:

"Who's doing that awful moaning?" "Desdemona!"

They ran out into the streets of Venice. Splash! Splash! Splash!

Incidentally, a Shakespeare group in Detroit just last week ran one of my other turkey cartoons on their Facebook page. I feel so honored!

*Editor's note: For you purists, the actual line in Shakespeare is: "I will wear my heart upon my sleeve..." However, we shun organ meats with our Thanksgiving dinners and will happily stick with pie, thank you very much!

Thanks, I'm stuffed

We've had glimpses of how they celebrate Thanksgiving on the U.S.S. Enterprise, but what about the Star Wars universe? Even the evil folks in the Empire had something to be thankful for!

Sketchbook: Remembering Elder Ballard

When I heard that Elder Ballard had passed away, I went through and pulled some things from his recent general conference addresses. Unsurprisingly, the notes reflected common themes that Elder Ballard addressed during his ministry: a testimony of Joseph Smith, the pioneers, missionary work, service and coming unto the Savior.

Phasing in to the holiday

This was a sketchbook a few years ago. I inked it and colored it for my Thanksgiving book, but apparently I've never run the completed version on the site. That all changes today!

Autumn leaves behind

There’s something about our neighborhood that makes all the leaves fall down in a single day. You need to be careful where you stand on that day.

Self care is important

Even Godzilla’s mom worries about her baby.

Editor’s note: From the Trojan Turkey one day to Godzilla the next. What is going on here? Is everything OK?

Unexpected guests

I know on these pages we're more likely to see Thanksgiving in Zarahemla, but when I thought of drawing a Trojan Turkey, well, that's an opportunity that I just couldn't pass up.

Sketchbook: Instapistles

I often hear people quote from social media posts by general authorities. Which makes me wonder if generations from now we'll have canonized the First Book of Instagram?
