A life of their own

Have a safe and happy Halloween, everyone! Keep an eye open for those littles out there tonight! Dress appropriately!

It's locally sourced

Just between you and me, this one was a lot of fun to draw.

I probably should have thrown in some organic nightshade or something. What do you think!

There's a place for us

Everybody starts someplace.

Sketchbook: Little friends

I kind of like this idea. Maybe I'll pursue it a little further in the future!

I only have tithes for you

This should be the last of the redraw/reformats.

Our bishop was our home teacher at the time I drew this one. I told him that his were the hands and feet. He thought that was nice. The next year this cartoon came out in the New Era, and he was over the moon — his hands and feet were in the Church magazines!

At about the same time, Brian Crane, creator of the comic strip Pickles (and also a member of the Church), came out with a similarly-themed cartoon. Their grandson wanted to go as God for Halloween because people would then give him ten percent of their candy. Great minds — or something!

Oh, snap! They really are a scree-um.

Just for fun we tried setting lyrics for Adam's family to the Addams Family theme song. The results were amusing, but I probably shouldn't repeat them here!

If they rise not at all

Another in the series of reworks/reformatting. And, yes, it is in questionable taste.

One day in the Cultural Hall

There's an old BC cartoon where they guys are playing baseball, using a piece of fruit as a ball. Thor catches it, sniffs it and says, "This thing is rancid!" Wiley, the umpire, also smells it and proclaims, "Foul ball!"

Sketchbook: Halfway there

Moms kind of frown on do-it-yourself haircuts, even if you're trying to look like a general authority!

Picture perfect

Yeah, I suppose there are those who want their driver license photos to look ugly. They probably don't go away disappointed.

Cast away

This is another that's been redrawn and reformatted.

The original caption was "Halloween on a desert island." I had an editor spend easily fifteen minutes explaining to me the difference between deserted and desert. He thought this caption was way more funny.

Sketchbook: The headless companion

It's transfer time for our local missionaries. They found out that they're both staying, but they were a little worried. Although the calls are inspired, you never know what you're going to get!

Every body needs a helper

I've had to re-draw some of my older cartoons for a project I'm working on. This one was so old that the original was in black and white (with zip-a-tone!).

Maybe there's a copy in the German section?

I struggled a bit with the caption on this one — can I call them Mormon kids? But then I figured that's what they're called at our high school, so I went with it. I figure we all know who they're talking about.

And now, back to our worldly programming

It was kind of weird to return to our regular programming after a weekend full of conference, the World Report and all those little videos in between.

Keeping a journal

Have you stopped to ponder how much has gone on in the Church since last conference in April? I mean, Pres. Nelson's schedule alone would probably take up reams!

There are always rumors that swirl around what might be announced at conference. I haven't heard as many this time, because — frankly — it could be just about anything!

Take your vitamins and buckle up!

Stay tuned tomorrow when I start posting my sketch notes from General Conference!

Maybe she means the elders...

This is kind of a variation on an old trope of someone mistakenly  thinking of General Conference in military terms. Another example is this Navy fan, or this actual military general.
