Monday sketchbook: Important safety tip

I know driving laws vary from state to state, and here in Oregon it's illegal to use a cell phone and drive (unless it's hands-free). So imagine my surprise when driving through Denver last week when the woman in the next lane over was texting with both hands while aiming her vehicle at freeway speeds!

Texting and driving: don't do it!

  1. Using a hand-held cell phone while driving is illegal here in California, too. Doesn't seem to matter to the "I'm too important to bother with inconvenient laws" types.

  2. Studies show that using a handheld phone while operating a motor vehicle is about as dangerous as driving while intoxicated. As one comedian put it, at least when you drive drunk there's someone trying to pay attention behind the wheel!
