Not so fast!

Kids eating glue sticks is the modern equivalent of the kids who ate paste back in the day. Besides, they look so much like chapstick!

Starting early

Yes, I know there's the I Spy A Nephite series, but a publication like this would be great to prepare up and coming missionaries. Some of the scenes could include a busy train station, an open air market, an apartment complex or even the house next door!

Of course with the updated missionary terminology, a better title might be Find A Friend. Hmm.

Sketchbook: One moment in time

For most Latter-day Saints, those days are rather rare!

Folklore

There are two sides to every story. Unless it’s a double album on vinyl. Then there are four sides.

A gift from the heart

I don't know how well macaroni necklaces hold up, but I've still got several of the construction paper neckties that my kids made for Father's Day when they were little.

And, honestly, I think my mom would have loved it had I made her a kimchi necklace!

Sketchbook: A swift ensign

I liked the idea behind this sketch, but it occurs to me that one has to be of a certain age to truly appreciate it. And that age is not in the same demographic as the Swifties.

Way back in the 20th century, some of you might recall the Church magazine for youth: The New Era. That's where I got my start as a cartoonist. But before The New Era, there was The Improvement Era. I'm pretty sure that it was later shortened to just The Era, but I haven't found any documentation to back that up.

There's a cool Church History website that talks about different periodicals we've had over time. Interesting reading!

Be a lot cooler if it was

It’s when they start to use their mind tricks when things really go off the rails.

They preserved the Minerva Teichert murals

I wish that I had saved some examples of the artwork created by our Primary kids over the years. My favorite was after the lesson on Nephi building the ship, one of the little girls drew Nephi's boat — as a pirate ship.

There should be one of the bulletin boards in the hallway that's dedicated to Primary art. I should take that up with the ward council!

Worlds without end

Different people have different coping mechanisms when one has to deal with public speaking.
