I was in a rest area somewhere along the interstate and saw some graffiti that was and inspirational message — rather than the usual crass stuff. Made me wonder how it got there?
In Birmingham (near where I live) there's a fair amount of graffiti (or at least wall art) that's like that. From very noticeable "you are beautiful"s to beautiful scenes of people embracing another as friends, it's very encouraging to see. It's not all like that, but at least it's somewhat trendy.
I've been cartooning since I was a teenager, and have been published in magazines ranging from AASHTO Quarterly to the LDS Church magazines and several other periodicals, trade publications and newsletters.
