Sketchbook: A better talk

Wasn't that an amazing conference? There were so many good messages, and I took several notes of things I need to pay attention to.

I loved Elder Farnes' story with Pres. Oaks: "That's what we do."

Elder Renlund: "You are not an asterisk."

Elder Kearon: "Live in spiritual lift."

Sis. Chibota's sawubona.

Pres. Eyring: "Of course it's hard! It's a test!"

Elder Kyungu: "Bury the language of contention."

Elder Gong: "Why did the temple workers cross the road?"

And so much more! What were some of your highlights?

October General Conference - Sunday Afternoon Session

I heard that!

Conference starts tomorrow! I'm looking forward to hearing the messages and getting a spiritual boost!

You likely know that I take notes during each of the sessions and post them afterward. I also keep my sketchbook nearby to write down any ideas or thoughts that pop into my head while I listen.

The spirit speaks to us in a language we can understand. That got me thinking, do musicians hear/feel music as they listen?

I see a weekend full of meetings

One of the LDS influencers I follow on social media had a recent post about "Predictions for General Conference." A lot of times people in the rumor mill come up with reasoned or outlandish takes on what announcements may be made in General Conference. They said that their prediction was that we'll have a chance to strengthen our testimonies about Jesus Christ and be encouraged to become better people.

The words "predictions about general conference" made me think about this. It's probably a good candidate for staying in the sketchbook, but it's been years since I've drawn a fortune teller!

Tune in to general conference this weekend. Feed your soul!

Pajama time

If I recall, I overheard this in church and decided to borrow it for Zarahemla Times. And it's true: Dad pajamas are usually the worst!

Besides it being a conference-themed cartoon, there's another reason that I dusted off a Zarahemla Times gag for today. Today is also the day when The Complete Zarahemla Times collection becomes available!

The book is chock full of all the Zarahemla Times cartoons — the funny ones, the lame ones, and everything in between. It's been a few years in the making, and I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Order your copy today!

Conference Prep: Scenes we'd like to see

There was a series I saw recently in the Church News that took us behind the scenes of getting ready for general conference. This is the part that I'd like to see: getting rid of the wiggles before the meeting begins!

Even more true

I thought this was relevant when I first ran it six months ago. It seems even more true today!

As you get ready for General Conference, be sure to download The Ward Cartoonist's General Conference Activity Packet! Always loaded with great stuff to help keep everyone engaged!

Sketchboook: Some post-conference thoughts

A few days ago I wondered if conference would be enough to get through the next six months. It was pretty awesome — I expect it should last at least a few weeks!

*I had a little trouble getting a good screenshot.

Not that long ago it was rare to announce ANY new temples at General Conference. I have to admit it, though, it felt a little disappointing. The temple announcements felt almost like dessert after a long spiritual feast!
