Washing time

"Pinkwashed" is a missionary term when sister missionaries replace elders in an area. Our ward was pinkwashed a little more than a year ago, and we've had a string of awesome sister missionaries ever since. yes, we had some awesome elders, but there's just something about those sisters...

Dancing with the stars

OK, I told you about my niece who is a zombie. Well, a model who posed as a zombie. Let me tell you about one of my nephews. He's a ballet dancer. You may have seen him on Breaking Pointe. Ever since he was a kid, it was his dream to dance in the Nutcracker. And now as a professional with the Sarasota Ballet, he's had the chance to do that and much, much more.

I have to say, that I was just the opposite as a kid. My dream was to make it through the Nutcracker without getting into trouble -- something I usually wasn't able to achieve.

Here's to you, Ian! Keep on breaking your leg!

Adapting to the season

It's time to start the countdown! Can you believe it's only 20 days until Christmas?

I've probably told this story before, but when my son was serving as a missionary in Canada, they got tired of going door to door. So one wintry day they decided to go knocking on shanties that the ice fishermen had set up on the lake. They had about the same results, but at least they had a good story to go with it!

Welcome to the Griswolds

For me, one of the hardest things about spending Christmas in the mission field was the lack of decorations. I grew up in the glow of the lights from Temple Square, so the few little things we scraped together in Busan were a bit lacking. Good thing we had the light of the gospel, right?
