Frozen assets

We've got temperatures nearing 100F, wildfires blazing all around, and some of the worst quality air in the world from the smoke. It's the perfect time for a snowman cartoon about family history!

*Note: I'm told he's working in his ice cubicle.

Go phish

Instead of targeting me with their scams, how about targeting my great-grandfather's sister's third child? I'm missing some info!

Do they all go to heaven?

Pets are so entwined with family stories. Its good that there are ways to share those stories in the Memories app so they are not forgotten.

Pillage the records!

You know, someone should talk to the folks at Roots Tech about incorporating cosplay into their convention. It would certainly be one way to bring family history to life!

The Family of the Baskervilles

Actually, I think Sherlock Holmes would be an amazing genealogist. He could certainly track down the most hidden of ancestors

Light the World: Together Time

For Light the World today, the suggestion is to gather as many family members as you can online for a virtual hangout.

For our family, we often get everyone together to play Among Us, since it's easy for the littles and not too difficult for the older people either.

What if you don't have family you can virtually gather with? A perfectly valid option is to go online and do some family history work! What a great way to bring family members together on both sides!

Light the World: Light the Family Tree

You can find out a ton of interesting things as you look up your own family tree! For today’s Light the World, learn something about an ancestor and share it! …although I may not share the real reason my uncle had a red nose!

Sketchbook: We're all family

Thinking about this now, I should have set it in the Roots Tech convention. Dang.

A lost branch

With drug sniffing dogs, bomb sniffing dogs and so forth, why not a genealogy sniffing dog?

Those fuzzy siblings

My dad's family had a horse named Tony the Pony. Tony was a legend amongst the siblings; each claimed that Tony belonged to him. But there's nowhere to put pets on the fan chart!

That's why I'm glad they've added the Memories to Family Search. Not only can you add photos, but you can add histories, memories and stories about your ancestors — and their pets!

And now for a moment of culinary history

One of the fun features on FamilySearch is the section on family recipes. We enjoy rolling out some of the old recipe books at holidays. We have a bunch of my grandma's cookie recipes, but on the Fourth of July, I break out my dad's recipe for baked beans. Even with the coronavirus restrictions, that's something we can still enjoy!
