Suffer the little children to come unto me

There are people who love being in Nursery, and there are those who don't. Personally, I can't really see the downside of two hours of songs, nap time and snacks!

Brighten a child's day today, or allow a child to brighten yours!

Judge not, that ye be not judged

He knows when you are sleeping,
he knows when you're awake.
He knows if you've been bad or good
so be good for goodness sake!

Besides Santa Claus, that song could almost hold true for a bishop as well, if he had good home teachers. Which begs the question, would Santa make a good bishop?

Honour thy father and thy mother

The official handout for the Light the World campaign from the Church asks three questions about today's theme:

  • When was the last time you actually talked to your parents?
  • Need some meaningful advice about something you're dealing with?
  • How well do you know your family's history?
My parents have both passed on, so I'm going with family history on this one.

Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself

We recently watched a movie in which the main character was asked if he spoke any foreign languages. He said no, he didn't. Yet during the course of the movie we see him speaking to people from many different countries.

"I thought you said you didn't speak any foreign languages?" someone asked.

"Those aren't foreign languages," he explained. "They're the languages that my neighbors speak!"

Today, find some way to show kindness to your neighbor — wherever they may be!

It is lawful to do well on the sabbath days

Remember back in the old days when keeping the Sabbath day holy meant a big list of things you couldn't do? I like the approach that we use nowadays, with a focus on filling the day with doing good things.

Freely ye have received, freely give

It's that time of year again! We're starting our countdown to Christmas, and incorporating the Light the World campaign. Today's scripture to inspire service is Matthew 10:8: "...freely ye have received, freely give."

Here are Sis. Kerry Jo's thoughts on the matter.
