Pix or it didn't happen (it's the Reel thing)

Have you ever seen a picture of Brigham Young smiling? It's a little unsettling.

Hot times for pioneers

I’ve said it before, and I’ll likely say it again: I hope Brigham Young (and many of the other prophets) has a sense of humor.

Have an enjoyable Pioneer Day wherever you are!

Facing the valley

Beauty will only get you so far. Brigham Young will get you into the Salt Lake Valley.

Not the Sketchbook: Days of '46

How did a state holiday manage to score one of the largest civilian parades in the world?

I have a friend who was vacationing with her family in Utah one July. They pulled off onto the 600 South exit in Salt Lake City — and found themselves smack in the middle of the Days of '47 Parade melee. Who knew that July 24 was anything?

Have a safe and happy Pioneer Day wherever you are!

Here's to you, dad!

I read somewhere recently that Brigham Young had 56 children with 16 of his wives. He would have gotten a few well-wishes for Father's Day!

One day at the doctor’s office

We had a family discussion the other night about Brigham Young having a  bad case of arthritis. One of my sons came up with this gag right on the spot.

Meanwhile at the Lion House

One of the downsides of plural marriage, I would suppose. But it probably helped keep the florists in business!

Taking it to the (Beehive) House

LDS cartoonists seem to pick on Brigham Young, Nephi, Moroni, Samuel the Lamanite and Captain Moroni. I really hope each of those guys has a sense of humor!

So close, but yet so far

Everyone knows what Brigham Young said on July 24, 1847, as his company arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. But what happened in the days just before that?

Mother's Day, Part III

I wonder if it's true that Hallmark gave Brigham Young volume discounts for birthdays and holidays?

Happy Mother's Day!
