Of course the missionaries around here can't really go anyplace. They're supposed to go outside for an hour a day. If they go anywhere, they're supposed to dress in their civvies so as not be drawn into conversation. 

Shod with something comfy

Because you have to be comfortable when you're fighting off the fiery darts of the adversary!
