I told myself that I wouldn't be doing any more cartoons with face masks, but I liked this idea too much to let it go. 

The question is, would helmets make church basketball safer or even more dangerous?

Sketchbook: Announcements at the OK Corral Ward

Our congregation has been meeting with the full ward for the full two-hour block for three weeks now. It’s nice to see everyone, but we still have the mask and physical distancing requirements. It’s sometimes difficult to hear the speakers or comments in classes. In priesthood meeting, the chairs were all set up on the three-point line.

According to government guidelines, once we reach a critical mass of 70% vaccinations, we can ease up on the restrictions. Like this bishop, I’d love to see everyone in our ward get shot.

Sometimes I think that I've been wearing a mask for a long time. But that long time is a matter of perspective.

This idea was languishing in my notebooks with a slight change in wording: "To mask, or not to mask..." 

Then Dr. Fauci made the suggestion that we'd all be better off with double masking — and suddenly, this had new life.

Either way, let's be careful out there!

Masked benefits

When wearing masks first became a thing, a friend sent me an article that said masks were going to pose a challenge to cartoonists. It would be very difficult to indicate who was talking.

I thought about that as I drew this cartoon. The intent is for the wife to be saying that to the husband. But it could work equally as well — if not better — if the conversation went the other way!

Some folks started the Phase I of returning to church this past Sunday. I imagine there was a lot less whispering than usual!
