I was messing around in my sketchbook and as I pondered that idea, this gem emerged. I mean, the point is is for us to know Him, right?
Let's be supportive and rid ourselves of this sacrament talk cliché. Thank you for your support.
Editor's note: My personal pet peeve is,"I would like to thank..." Why not just say thanks? But that's a discussion for another day!
It was a great talk. And, yes, he used a tissue or two.
The rest of his talk continued in the same vein — it was humorous, but also spiritual.
I loved what the next youth speaker said. She brushed back her hair, looked over at him and said, "I'm supposed to be the funny one!"
Later I encountered said child in the hall going toward Primary. I'm on the mom's side — the shoes he had on were sufficiently speedy!
It would be amazing to hear that kind of thing in General Conference: university president, world-renown surgeon, fighter pilot and airline executive, educator, animator, editor, scientist. Instead we get a name and title and what quorum or organization the speaker is a member of. That's kind of cool.
I like how that extends to local congregations as well. We're all just referred to as sister or brother. And that's all we need to know.
On the other hand, this seems like it would be a great prank to play on a missionary if you could get the right people involved. Hmm. Maybe you should forget I said that!
And, yes, the mask did complete the ensemble.
