Bigger than

It's fun to see the little kids in Primary dragging their scriptures to class. I guess, like many things in the gospel, it's something you grow into.
 

Distractions

I can still remember the best places to eat in my old areas. Although I'm certain that by now most of them are long gone — but their memories live on!
 

Sketchbook: For our day

There are a LOT of podcasts about the scriptures and about the Church. Some of them are really good. Others? Well, they run the spectrum. The thing to keep in mind, in my humble opinion, is that podcasts can make a good supplement to scripture study. But nothing beats being in the scriptures yourself.

Some days it does seem a little intense at the MTC. Our teachers were always good about sensing when we needed a break or had to blow off a little steam.

I don't remember doing much in the way of arts and crafts in the MTC. That came later, in the field.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but I won’t let that stop me from repeating myself. After I got my call to Korea, I had time to take some language classes at BYU before I went into the MTC. I studied diligently, got an A. 

By day two in the MYC we surpassed everything I had learned in my six week course.

For us as missionaries in Korea, we found ourselves studying language — they often had creative English translations on their packaging.

I was studying my scriptures the other day while I was doodling. Or was I doodling while I was studying my scriptures. Or something.

Either way, I probably should have chosen a different format for the canvas. Oh, well!

Well, the good news is that the missionaries who came home for COVID-19 are starting to go back out. I take that to be a good sign!

It used to be that you could get by doing your reading for Sunday school once every four years. No more!

Scripture highlights

It must have been a real challenge to highlight your scriptures back in Nephite time. And I can just imagine trying to play scripture chase in seminary!

We went back and forth for years — early morning, late night — until we settled into a pattern that works for us.

Early is as early does

When does your family do your scripture study? For a few years we did ours at 5 a.m., but now we do it at night before going to bed. I like that routine better.

It's interesting — there are times when it may be too early to read the scriptures, but is it ever too late?

In them ye shall find rest

The end is to be endured

And it's a condition that seems to get worse on warm, sunny days!
