Approach with caution

The original sketch for this had the dog asking a deep doctrinal question. My editor, Sis. B., suggested something a little more gentle. I think this worked out a lot better!
 

Sketchbook: Heaven’s Gate

This is less of an outright gag and more of, well, a sketchbook. With Come, Follow Me, we’ve had a lot of discussion on repentance — what it is and what it isn’t. I’ve heard people say they haven’t had to repent for months, yet I hear admonitions from leadership exhorting us to repent daily. 

This much I know: the more we repent, the less time we’ll have to wait in line. 
 

Sketchbook: Final Jeopardy

It's a bit bittersweet to say goodbye to Alex Trebek. He was the face of Jeopardy! for many years — but his career was much more than that. My mom loved him as the host of High Rollers, and he hosted several other game shows.

It seems like he took the place of Walter Cronkite as the "most trusted man in America" (although he was born in Canada). If he had announced the results of the presidential election, there wouldn't be the controversy!

What will happen to Jeopardy! now? We shall see. Godspeed, Mr. Trebek!

Burdens to be borne

OK, I think I have officially set a new record for the longest caption for a cartoon anywhere!

Sometimes it seems like we enjoy comparing trials and hardships. It really doesn't make any sense. We're much better off using our energy to count our blessings!

I know this particular gag is a variation on jokes that have been going around on social media, and it would have been more timely a couple of weeks ago (although we're far from out of the woods with COVID-19 yet). But it begs the question: just how much did we know before coming to this point in time?

One last thing. There are a couple of cameos in this cartoon. Can you spot them all?
