That’s another thing they rarely show in movies — how do those superheroes keep their uniforms looking so clean?
 

General Adventure

This is an example of how an idea can evolve. The original scribble in my notebook had a couple of missionaries getting dressed. But they do that every day; there's no special uniform for General Conference. 

Then I thought about making the characters general authorities. That might have been funny, but then again it might just look like two older gentlemen putting on suits. And I don't think I'm brave enough to start drawing caricatures of Elder Bednar or Elder Gong.

That brings us here. I'll leave it to your interpretation on whether he's changing out of play clothes to watch a session, or if he's getting ready for action and adventure!

 

With special guest stars from A to Z

That's one thing about the scriptures: there aren't very many instances where we hear the stories of some of the lesser-known characters. For example, we get a lot about Jacob, but not so much about his brother Esau. It'd be cool to have more of some of those family history stories!

Super spiritual gifts

There are many people who think of sister missionaries as a special kind of super hero. I started playing around with the idea of sister missionaries actually having super powers (which, I'm told, they do). I definitely think this is a road worth pursuing!
 

Light the World: Hero Highlight

There are all kinds of heroes in our world. It's easy to overlook the everyday heroes who are all around us.

My original draft for this cartoon had mom as the hero. Then dad. I went back and forth until I realized that in my own life my superheroes were a team. Like Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl, they were amazing as individuals but even better as a team.

The full prompt asks, "Who represents Christlike love to you?" There's no question that my parents showed that every day.

Our Activity Day girls are having a superhero-themed camp next week. It got me thinking what it might be like to have superheroes in Primary. Besides the teachers, I mean!

Blockbuster season

Normally I wouldn't run two Mission President cartoons in one week. But this is kind of an exception: tonight is our ward's missionary movie night! Ward members were asked to come up with a short video — most are between 30 seconds and one minute — that describes a verse in the Book of Mormon. The missionaries have received about 26 of them (at last count), and they each offer a unique perspective of the Book of Mormon. Some are very professionally done, some are...less so. Yet there's a great spirit about them!
